Why we made it

Most of us were never taught how our own mind works

Mental health problems are common, the myths around them keep people quiet, and the good news about treatment is the least known part. A leaflet gets read once. A game gets played again and again, so we used one.

5.2%

of adults worldwide had depression in 2023, by WHO's estimate.

470 million

people lived with an anxiety disorder in 2023, by WHO's estimate.

Treatable

With the right treatment and support, most people with depression can make a full recovery. Effective treatments exist for anxiety disorders and OCD too.

Each one is a condition turned into a creature

Every boss has three phases and three health bars. Between phases it talks back, its art gets angrier, and Lumi answers with a sourced fact. Beat it once and its Letter opens in your Library.

The Gloom, a heavy raincloud
Depression

The Gloom

The Rainy Room
How it fights
Curtains of rain with one safe gap, tear shots, lightning in phase 3.
What it teaches
It can happen to anyone. It is a real illness, not a weakness.
The Deadline, a ringing alarm clock
Stress and burn-out

The Deadline

The Overflowing Desk
How it fights
Clock-hand shots, ticking rings, paper storms, sticky-note minions.
What it teaches
Stress is natural; too much harms. Do what matters most first.
The Crowd, a ring of watching masks
Anxiety

The Crowd

The Empty Theatre
How it fights
Orbiting masks that dash at you, and a spotlight that raises stress.
What it teaches
Anxiety is normal. Anxiety disorders are common and treatable.
The Loop, a padlock with a clock face
OCD

The Loop

The Perfect Room
How it fights
Every attack repeats. Glowing urge tiles tempt you to step on them.
What it teaches
A ritual brings brief relief, then the worry returns. Therapy like ERP helps.
How to play

Survive the waves, calm the stress, beat the boss

  1. Make your characterPick skin, hair, outfit and an accessory, then step into your room.
  2. Survive three wavesEnemies are heavy thoughts. Waves are randomized every run, so no two runs match.
  3. Pick a habitBetween waves choose an upgrade like The Pause, Boundary or A Friend. Each one carries a short tip and its source.
  4. Beat the bossThree phases, three health bars, and a conversation in between. Then travel to the next room.
  5. Read the LetterEach boss leaves a Letter in your Library: what it is, myths and facts, what helps, and when to reach out.

Health
Stress

Past 70% stress your aim wobbles and you fire slower. At 100% you are overwhelmed and lose health. Breathe, collect clarity orbs, or stand in a Dream Net web to bring it down.

Five coping tools. None is stronger, each plays differently.

Light Wand

Rapid bolts of light. Easy to aim.

Ink Spread

A burst of ink. Huge knockback up close.

Lantern Beam

Hold to pour a steady beam through everything.

Dream Net

Bursts into a web that slows, snares and calms.

Bass Notes

Notes that pass through and bounce off walls.

The science

Every fact in the game has a source

All health statements live in one register, each tied to a WHO, NHS, NIMH or MedlinePlus page and labelled as a definition, a fact or guidance. An independent reviewer checked every sentence against its page, and we rewrote the lines that went further than the source.

A letter left behind by the Loop

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD)

  • MythOCD just means liking things tidy. Not all habits are compulsions.1
  • MythDoing the ritual fixes the worry. Relief is only temporary; the obsession and anxiety soon return.2
  • FactHaving OCD is not your fault.2
  • FactTalking therapy can help with OCD.1,2

1. NIMH, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder. 2. NHS, Obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). For awareness only. Not a diagnosis or medical advice.

Mechanics that mirror the scienceThe NHS describes a cycle: a compulsion relieves anxiety for a moment, then the worry returns. In the Perfect Room, stepping on an urge tile lowers stress briefly, then it comes back and the boss heals. Letting the urge fade weakens the boss.
Careful about limitsThe game never diagnoses. It says OCD is unlikely to get better without proper treatment and support, and every Letter tells players when to talk to a doctor.

Your mind can grow back. Start a run.
